My Friend Jesus.

I know a friend who's rare and true,
who stands by me when I am blue,
he bore my griefs and made me new,
and longs to do the same for you.

He loved us with a love so true,
and did what no one else could do,
please heed the words which I tell you,
and learn about this perfect Jew.

His name is Jesus Christ, you see,
and he died to set the captives free,
to loose sins chains from you and me,
He gave his sinless life at calvary.

He loved not his life, for he was brave,
and death could not hold him in the grave,
when the Father's loving word He gave,
and He raised the son the world to save.
