Follow Me

I stood at the door of your heart and knocked,
but you hid curled up in the cold dark corner.

I called your name in love, and your eyes lifted up,
yet you stayed all alone in the empty darkness.

As I sang of my love and longing for you,
you rose and took a few faltering steps,

I thought atlast you had heard and would come to me,
but you turned back to the dark emptiness.

I held out my arms and my love I poured out,
but you wouldnt let go of your fear and doubt.

Despite all my effort, I had to depart,
and I walked on with a broken heart.

I look back now and then to see,
did you ever get up and follow me?
